Recharge, Reset, Refresh

This week is winter break, which means I'm off!

Except not really.

See working in two schools unfortunately means I have DIFFERENT VACATION SCHEDULES.

But in all seriousness I'm actually excited because I have my whole week figured out (the question will be is that going to go according to plan...)

The week of break for me as I mentioned isn't quite a true vacation so instead of treating is a half vacation (therefore defeating the entire concept of vacation), I use it as a chance to

RECHARGE RESET AND REFRESH for the remainder of the school year. The reason for this is because I'd rather schedule a proper vacation at a later point in the year but more importantly the rest of the school year is so much EASIER when I take the time to do a few simple things, which then allows me the ability to actually take a break later on.

So heres how I  RECHARGE: I spent this long weekend together with my family, which provides help with my toddler, cooking, and the cleaning, and the family time to enjoy and recharge.

Then comes the RESET. Winter break is always my mid-year curriculum check in. I see where I'm holding in each of my subjects, where I need to be by the end of the year and start making a general plan (having adjusted the one from the beginning of the year) to ensure I can do my best to finish the curriculum, or at least what I can of it.
I repeat this for each subject then make a little more of a detailed plan for the first few weeks back to give me the head start I need to kick off the next term. I think about any project, tests, assignments, and lessons that I plan to bring out, and even for the new subjects this doesn't take me longer than a couple hours per subject.

The next part of my reset is a little self care because it's the perfect opportunity to treat myself. So maybe I spend a few hours of my time working at a cafe, or coffee shop. Sometimes I'll pickup food and just set the work mood at home in my office (having access to all my books and papers is sometimes more important than the change of scenery).

I allow myself solid work time for the good part of the day and then take a break. I'll go to Marshalls, maybe the mall, or even go and get my nails done. I spend the times in the evening working only if I really want to, but mostly relaxing and taking it easy.

Using this week to Recharge and Reset leaves me feeling REFRESHED and prepared for the upcoming months and makes my life so much easier once school is back in full swing.
There is nothing wrong RESTING by spending your week on the couch  but then when school starts again you're just as overwhelmed with the workload as before.

So it's up to you if your going to rest, or RECHARGE AND RESET
